Baptism
When someone chooses to follow Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, we practice public baptism. Romans 10:9 says, "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Public confession of your faith helps others understand your decisions. Since Jesus died to redeem you, and rose from the dead to give you new life, you are a new creation in Him! Further, Acts 2:38 says, "Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will received the gift of the Holy Spirit." Peter teaches us that, when we repent, believe and are baptized we will receive the Holy Spirit. Of course, repentance and belief are done in the heart, and you can have the Holy Spirit without water baptism. But! Why wouldn't you want to invite your family and friends to celebrate your newness of life by participating in celebrating the most important decision you will ever make? A baptism service is the perfect way to proclaim Christ as Lord while inviting your family and friends to celebrate with you.
